Managing data streams

A data stream is the source of data recorded during a session. Data streams are typically a Kernel device, or a survey, but in the future could also include 3rd party recording devices (such as a heart rate monitor or Whoop strap.
Every study must have at least one data stream associated with it. If your organization has only one Kernel device, it will be automatically assigned to the study when the study is created.
Data streams which are surveys can be added to a study, removed from a study, or hidden, which removes the survey from all participants' Kernel App accounts.
To view the data streams associated with an organization:
- On the Organization Home page of the Researcher Portal, click the Settings tab.
The Data Streams List is can be found in the right column.
To add a data stream to a study:
- On the Organization Home page, click the name of the study you want to modify from the Studies List.
The Study page opens.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Scroll down.
The Data Streams List is at the bottom of the left column. - Click the Add Data Stream button.NOTE:The only type of data stream that can be added at present is a Survey. To learn more about adding surveys, see Working with surveys.
To hide a data stream from view:
- On the Organization Home page, click the name of the study you want to modify from the Studies List.
The Study page opens.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Scroll down.
The Data Streams List is at the bottom of the left column. - Click the blue eye icon to the right of the data stream you want to remove.
A confirmation dialog appears.
- Click OK.
The data stream is removed from participants' mobile apps, and from the Data Streams list in the Researcher Portal for participants in the study.
To remove a data stream from a study:
- On the Organization Home page of the Researcher Portal, click the name of the study you want to modify from the Studies List.
The Study page opens.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Scroll down.
The Data Streams List is at the bottom of the left column. - Click the red trash icon to the right of the data stream you want to remove.
A confirmation dialog appears.
- Click OK.
The data stream is removed.
