Initiating a Scan

The Study Portal is the web-based user-interface (UI) for registering participants and collecting data. Kernel will provide your clinic with a dedicated Study Portal link for data collection. Save or bookmark this link on the computers used for data collection. It is unique to your site and must not be shared outside your organization.

The Portal should be accessed from Google Chrome on a Mac or Windows laptop or desktop.

Access to the Study Portal is protected by a password of your choosing, which can be set upon first use via the “Forgot password?” button. All data collectors should know this password. Before each session, the operator will be prompted to enter it.

Registering New Participants

When a participant arrives for their first scan (Brain Age or Cognition Tracker), they must be registered in the Study Portal.

  1. From the main menu, select Register a Participant

  2. Click Register Participant.

  3. The portal will then generate a Participant ID.

  4. Save the Participant ID along with the participant’s full name in a secure location, following your internal protocol for maintaining a subject key.

The Portal does not save or display identifying information. If the participant returns for subsequent scans, it is your responsibility to match the person to their correct Participant ID.

Setting up for a Scan

NOTE:
We recommend powering on and initializing the headset before the participant arrives using the Flow Start-up button on the Study Portal's home page. See Starting up the Flow System for details.

There are two ways to initiate a Brain Age scan:

  1. Immediately after registering a new participant, click "Complete a Visit."
  2. Alternatively, click “Complete a Visit” from the main menu.
    1. You’ll be prompted to select the participant’s ID from a dropdown.

  3. You will be taken to the selected participant's Profile page, from which you can collect a scan or send results.
