Synchronizing overview

Article summary

For many studies you may want to add data to your Flow2 datasets identifying when events occur, such as stimuli from a Task or data from supplemental recording sources. For example, you want to know the exact timing of an on-screen stimulus, like the appearance of a flashing light and/or you may want to have the participant's heart rate recorded alongside their neural activity. Such data need to be properly synchronized and included with the Flow2 data so you can identify correlations.

For Task stimuli, as long as you use the provided set of Kernel Tasks, or create your own using the Kernel Tasks SDK, Kernel uses the data acquisition computer's internal clock to create accurate synchronization and records the task activity as part of a Flow2 dataset.

For external equipment, such as a pulse oximeter, eye tracker, or another device for which you want to ensure its signals are synchronized to your Flow2 data, use the provided Sync Accessory Box. To learn more, see Using the Sync Accessory Box.
