Ensure that lasers are off by using the Turn Lasers OFF button on the Portal Flow tab before picking up the DevKit from the Headset Stand. Lasers should be off when transferring the cap to and from the Stand or a head.
NOTE:
Placement of the DevKit will depend on the configuration and type of cap used to collect data. The following steps represent Kernel's best practices for putting on the reference design cap included in your DevKit shipment.
If a participant has their hair up or in a style, and it is easy to take their hair down, ask them to do so.
- The participant dons the DevKit backpack, with assistance if necessary.
- The backpack should sit with the adjustable shoulder straps facing outwards and on top of the shoulder. This is the only side that will stick to the Velcro on the Hub.
- Adjust the shoulder straps to a comfortable fit, ensuring that the top rim of the backpack sits just below the neck.
- The operator holds the Hub and EEG Reference/Bias leads while the participant removes the cap from the Headset Stand. The operator continuously holds the Hub to prevent it from pulling awkwardly on the participant's head.
- The participant stretches the cap over their head. Align the bottom rim of the front part of the cap with the participant's eyebrows. The operator continues to hold the Hub and EEG Reference/Bias leads during this step.
- The operator hands the participant the EEG clips at the ends of the leads. The participant attaches each clip to their earlobes. Refer to the section Connecting the EEG components for detailed instructions.
- The participant buckles the chin strap and adjusts (if applicable).
- Once the cap and clips are comfortably situated, the participant signals the operator. The operator attaches the Hub to the backpack using the velcro on the back side of the Hub. Ensure that the Hub's placement does not cause the cables to pull on the participant's head. This may require several adjustments.
NOTE:
Collaboration between the participant and the operator is essential to ensure proper placement and comfort. These steps are intended as a guide; variations may be necessary depending on specific requirements or DevKit configurations.
